It's been so cold here lately that it makes it hard to believe that we probably have another couple of months of refrigerator weather to look forward to. One thing about the cold is that it makes being in a warm cozy kitchen filled with yummy intoxicating smells a great place to be. So, February is definitely when we spend most of our time creating sweets, not only for Valentines Day, but for the months ahead. Here at Baker Babes Bakery we like to think of red velvet cake as one of our specialties. The cake is moist and delicious. The heavenly frosting we make is a vintage southern favorite, not at all like the cream cheese frosting (often borrowed from carrot cake recipes) you may find on red velvet cakes around town now. We have created special heart shaped red velvet cupcakes and cakes for Cupid's Day, as well as heart shaped coconut bars, a Cleveland favorite. These sweets will certainly get that special someone's attention and are one of the best ways to show how much you care. They are sure to melt their heart and maybe even the snow!
